How do I get this look?(picture inside)?

I love the smokey eye look but I can't seem to get it right. Could you tell me how to get that exact look.. well maybe not exact. I'm using a quad shadow pack in purple cause I heard purple makes brown eye's pop. well anyways. any info/tips can help! thanks!
please don't tell me to read a magazine. Just tell me how to do it.

It takes practice but here's a few tips I would try first:

-Use the lightest color in your pack and spread it all over your lid.
-Use a medium color on your crease. Blend upwards really well.
-Use the darkest color in the corner of your eye. Blend outwards.
-Use a few coats of black mascara on your upper and lower lashes.
-Use a pencil eyeliner and smudge lightly with a q tip. If you want you can even smudge a little bit of eyeshadow under your eye.
-Always use an actual eyeshadow brush. They work so much more better than the cheap little applicators that come with eyeshadow.
